Last night, MTV aired it’s annual Movie Awards. If I had to summarize the show in one word, it would be ‘disastrous’. Hollywood over at NK gave his views on the painful two hours, and I thought I’d take the time to bash talk about the show.
First off, I haven’t watched MTV, or even come close to it while channel surfing for about two years. I understand that the network has made SEVERAL changes to appeal to the new generation of whiggers kids.
So, they decided to captialize on a “hot” star amongst the teens, and chose Andy Samberg to host. I liked Samberg….up until I saw him sell out infront of millions of people across America. Okay, that statement might be a little harsh, but it’s true. I sincerely think EVERY SINGLE ONE of the SNL digital shorts died last night. A melody trying to make all the songs sound serious? Really?
Not only did “I’m on a Boat”, “Dick in a Box”, and “Jizz in My Pants” officially become bastardized, but even an internet meme had to suffer. “Play em out Keyboard Cat”…….Oh Samberg. I feel so bad for you.
The whole show felt like it was thrown together last second. Right before it aired, one of the DJs was saying “YOU DON’T WANNA MISS ANDY’S INTRO!” It turned out to be some lame jokes that went over everyone’s heads, and made Megan Fox look extremely pissed. When her and Michael Bay introduced the Transformers 2 clip, you could tell she didn’t want to be there. After the opening, I would of walked out.
Speaking of walking out, everyone knows what went down with Eminem and Sacha Baron Cohen. I’m not a huge fan of SBC, but he has a good sense of humor. Unfortunately for him and MTV, Eminem didn’t. It was worth seeing live, but watching the video online isn’t the same. Good press for the film.
The winners were as expected. Viewers aka tweens with unlimited texting decided to choose Twilight for nearly everything it was nominated for. I don’t know if they know this, but Twilight was AVERAGE AT BEST. I laughed at Kristin Stewart dropping the ‘Golden Popcorn’. Classic fail.
Be honest. The show was terrible. Boring. Jokes that had no substance. They completely bashed Ben Stiller with his “Lifetime Achievement” or whatever that crap was. There was a ‘digital short’ about Explosions in movies. If you enjoyed that, you seriously need to kick yourself. It made fun of some of the best movies ever made, and that the public has paid good money to see. I couldn’t help but think that I would of rather been watching Con Air than this disaster.
I don’t know what’s worse. The fact that they used the award show as a lead in for their brand new “Beavis and Butthead” rip-off, or the fact that Nickelodeons Kid’s Choice Awards had more legitimacy than this.
The youth is screwed…..
